Fareham Lib Dems Celebrate

Councillors Doubled in Borough Council Reset

Liberal Democrats make massive dent in the Tory-controlled Fareham Borough Council.

The addition of four new Liberal Democrats Councillors (taking the total to eight) will strengthen the LibDem opposition and increase representation on essential committees.

Congratulations to all our councillors - Lisa Whittle and Kirsten Wiltshire (Fareham Town), David Hamilton and Alison West (Wallington and Downend), Paul Nother and Paul Whittle (Portchester Wicor), Chrissie Bainbridge and Dave Wiltshire (Portchester Castle).

More than these vital gains in Council seats, Fareham’s Liberal Democrats have enjoyed a great election campaign. In several other seats we ran a very close second, missing by just 35 votes in Sarisbury and Whiteley (the seat just vacated by ex-Council Leader Sean Woodward)  and 27 votes in Park Gate.

Fareham Lib Dems have put the Conservatives on notice. “It has been our best ever election campaign”, said Fareham LibDems Chair, David Brunnen.

“We have recruited more volunteers, displayed more posters, delivered more leaflets, and spoken to residents on thousands of doorsteps. With that boost from the public, we have shifted awareness and created a 25% dent in the old blue wall.”

This new awareness of Liberal Democrat capacity and competence is an essential and timely qualifier for the General Election battles to come said Brunnen. “We will take this winning spirit into the contest against S. Braverman – former Attorney General, Former Home Secretary, former leader of the Brexit battalion, and, soon to be, former MP for Fareham!”
