New measures to combat fly-tipping are a response at last to residents’ concerns which Fareham Lib Dems have been raising for years.
The Environment Departmant this week announced that households will no longer have to pay to get rid of DIY waste under plans set out by government to change the rules that currently allows some Local Authorities to charge for DIY waste from households.
Under the proposals, household DIY-ers would not be charged to get rid of waste including plasterboards, bricks and bath units.
Lib Dems protested when Hampshire County Council introduced the charges at its tips.
Our Vision for Fareham proposed: “Remove tip charges for bulky waste for domestic households, making it free of charge to domestic users and available 7 days a week, in our efforts to prevent fly – tipping.”
