Boys need bins
Lib Dems have called on Fareham Council to support the Boys Need Bins campaign run by Prostate Cancer UK.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. For that and other reasons, one in 25 men over 40 will experience some form of urinary leakage each year.
A motion proposed by the Lib Dem group at the December meeting of Fareham Council seeks to increase the availability of sanitary bins in men's toilets within our community so that men can dispose of any sanitary waste discreetly. The motion proposed:
This Council resolves :
- That the Executive Member for Streetscene should consider as soon as reasonably practicable the provision of at least one sanitary bin in all Council male toilets, both public and in Council buildings.
- To encourage other providers of public and workplace toilets in our area to make male sanitary bins available in their facilities.
- To support Prostate Cancer UK's 'Boys need Bins' campaign.
- That the Executive Leader should write on behalf of the Council to our local MPs asking them to support Prostate Cancer UK's 'Boys need Bins' campaign and Prostate Cancer UK's request for Government to update any necessary regulations to ensure that suitable means for the disposal of sanitary dressings is provided in all toilets.
The motion is expected to be considered by the Council's Streetscene Scrutiny Panel on January 25.
